Citation and reuse

Use the comparison. Keep the context.

Share a useful result in a lesson, article, slide or conversation while keeping its measurement and source understandable.

Make a comparison

Share a “Did you know?” discovery

Open Save & share, choose the comparison to feature, and preview your message. An exact conversion reads “Did you know? 1 foot = 12 inches.” Object comparisons retain the named dimension, approximate sign and source qualifications.

Use Copy “Did you know?” to paste the caption into a message or post. Where your browser supports it, Share… opens your device’s sharing options. The message includes a link that reopens your full comparison with the same catalogue edition.

Open Message preview & sources to read the actual caption, copy the complete definitions and bibliography, or download the message. Keep the qualifications with the fact, especially for ranges, human populations and fictional references.

The link preserves the calculation for readers. A social platform may show UniRuler’s general link preview; the specific discovery is carried in the caption you share.

Copy a complete citation

  1. Enter your lengths and choose the outputs.
  2. Open Save & share → Save the full comparison and select Copy citation and sources.
  3. Paste the citation next to your result. It includes a comparison URL, catalogue version, access date, result and original measurement sources.

For a particular object’s definition, open its reference page and use “Permanent link to this catalogue edition.” When the exact calculation matters, include the versioned comparison link.

A very long comparison may exceed the PNG size limit. Use SVG or print in that case; results are never silently cut off to fit an image.

Keep these details in the caption

  • The object’s dimension: diameter, height, long edge or full wingspan.
  • The named model, cultivar, sample or fictional form.
  • Any approximation, range or chosen-midpoint qualification.
  • The catalogue version and the original source context.

For example, “Prairie Sensation apple diameter” is more precise than “an average apple.” The selected sample does not describe every apple.

Reuse and attribution

You may share UniRuler-generated comparison text, tables and graphics, including in commercial articles or presentations. Retain their factual qualifications and source notices, and describe any changes you make. A visible “Comparison created with UniRuler” citation helps readers reopen the calculation; a search-ranking link is not required.

This permission covers UniRuler-created output. It does not grant rights to third-party photos, logos, source publications, trademarks or fictional artwork. Those are not included in our comparison graphics.
